The great late Virgil Abloh was a 'fashion theorist', civil engineer and an Architect. He believed in creating and designing in order to push boundaries and open doors for other curators and idealists. Upon gaining his master's in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, he began his venture in fashion and design. He managed to expand the definition of luxury fashion with his era defining ideas and outlook on life which has and still does positively fashion culture around the world.
On one hand I understand Architecture to be defined by its surroundings and restraints. Conversely, on the upper hand I prioritise how imperative it is for me to never stop believing, dreaming and pushing limits. This derives from when I was a kid who would dream of how I would look or what I practise in when I get older. My designs and creations are always questioned and reviewed to make sure that they represent my beliefs. I believe my architecture can inspire those around me to design more freely and create according to the contextual surrounding and the consumer needs whilst leaving a genius approach. Communities should observe and experience designs and be amazed. The feeling of childhood dreaming and keeping the kid inside of you will be chain reaction sourcing from my designs. I want to design and create significant architecture that tells a story with every flushed interior, every crevice, every slate and rooflight. My architecture 'will' inspire and uplift and enable people to see the world in a much lighter way. Life can be what you make it. I am passionate about designing consumer orientated architecture, in order to help change the way people think and live. Making our lives more organic, colourful and curvaceous.
The sector I am most passionate about is Residential. I have specialised in Resi since I graduated. Touching and experiencing various other sectors enabling me to gain invaluable knowledge on different kinds of design and builds. Residential has always been a place where I can feel most creative, from collaborating with clients and sketching ideas down, to figuring out the best orientation of the building to gain the most natural light to pushing limits with planners to see your imagination come to life. Designing based on your imagination and the clients brief makes for a interesting recipe. In every bathroom, bedroom, kitchen that is drawn uniquely a piece of you is integrated into the design and construction. I really enjoy indulging in the design and technical side of it because its all worth it when the last pave has been laid. Creating and helping peoples dreams come true allows me to help shape a better contextual surrounding therefore a better community. Leaving an impact is imperative, my teachers and inspirators like Virgil, David Adjaye and Samuel Ross have set example. Its of my greatest benefit to follow and create my own path so that I too can leave a positive effect on the world.
